We had to do some grocery shopping today and so I decided to go a bit funky and clash the styles of the 1950s through late 1970s. Some elements of my outfit I have owned for years while others I received as Christmas gifts or picked up from a thrift store a couple days ago. It may seem obvious why the title of this blog post is "In the Blues"... the key components of my look are blue! But, that's not entirely it.
The other reason the post title is fitting is because I go back to school tomorrow. Winter break has been incredible. I have had plenty of relaxing home time, lots of time spent with family, and of course time to participate in holiday festivities of which I don't want to end. After all, never ending break is unrealistic though. And so, I have to return to school tomorrow which is why I could be classified as being in the blues. BUT... to be positive, spring break is in just about three or so months!
My earrings of course are from Revere Folie and showcase a very detailed and uplifting ocean scene. Because of my love for animals I especially admire the dolphin and octopus- so cute! These hoops also feature waves, an anchor, and plenty of glitter and bold colors. These dangling beauties ended up getting me a compliment in the midst of Walmart from a mother and her elementary daughter; it was so sweet.
My jeans are from American Eagle, and since they are high-waisted, they give off such a seventies vibe... which is what I love about them. Now, I just need to go on the hunt for jeans that are high-waisted and flared.
My jacket is faux leather. I bought it from Hollister a few years ago and it is fun to pair with vintage or vintage inspired outfits to radiate a 'borrowed from the boys' look.
My ivory colored sweater I am wearing is from Target and it is so universal with vintagey wintertime looks!
My beret is the perfect mix of teal and turquoise. I found it at my local charity shop for only a couple of dollars, but its tag signals that it is from Target. I have recently began searching for a beret and within a few days I pondered upon one... it was great, haha!
Lastly, my slick, black penny loafers are from the Macy's online store but were given to me for Christmas. I was especially happy to receive these considering they were one of the top items on my wishlist!
